BioTechX – our brain tumor segmentation algorithm

The largest European conference on digital revolution in drug development and AI in pharma – BioTechX – is starting tomorrow in Basel. The congress runs 8-10th November. We enjoy such meetings because they empower us with new ideas and partnerships.

BioTechX – our footprint

We will be there: it is a great opportunity to exchange experiences, meet many interesting people and gain new knowledge.

Bartosz Machura, our Graylight Imaging expert, will present a poster summarising one of our projects dedicated to algorithm development. The poster’s title is “An end-to-end pipeline for automating multi-class brain tumor segmentation and volumetric measurements”. During the poster session (9-10th November) you will have the opportunity to chat about our solutions based on artificial intelligence. Meet Bartosz Machura!

Brain tumor segmentation challenge

We have been working on brain tumor segmentation and analysis algorithms for several years. This year we submitted our solution to two global competitions:

Our algorithm was ranked 2nd in FeTS 2022, 2nd in BraTS 2022 on a pediatric dataset, and 3rd in BraTS 2022 on a Sub-Saharan Africa dataset. We’re very excited about this success and eager to share the knowledge with the industry.

“We designed a fully automated deep learning tool for the analysis of 3D MRI data acquired for glioma patients. We proposed an end-to-end system that uses MR sequences (pre-contrast T1, post-contrast T1-weighted T1Gd, T2-weighted T2, and T2 fluid-attenuated inversion recovery T2-FLAIR) to identify different tumor sub-regions (enhancing tumor ET, peritumoral edema ED and necrosis NEC). It computes their respective volumes, alongside the bidimensional diameters according to the RANO criteria for the active parts of the tumor.”

What is BioTechX congress?

BioTechX’s Europe edition is held annually in Basel, Switzerland (the heart of European pharma). It is a premier congress for those invested in the future of the pharmaceutical industry. It’s not just a conference.Iit’s a dynamic hub where industry leaders and scientific minds converge to push the boundaries of drug discovery.

BioTechX involves more than just presentations, although this learning factor is crucial here. It is a catalyst for innovation, a breeding ground for collaboration. Furthermore, it provides a forum for the exchange of ideas with the potential to transform healthcare all over the globe.
